Rally For Climate Action

Wednesday October 17, 12pm

Bill 4 is now at the Committee Stage and the government is holding public hearings Monday, October 15 and Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

Many individuals and groups, including ClimateFast, were denied an opportunity to make an oral submission at the hearings.

Most particularly the voice of young people are not being heard.  They will face the results of our inaction on climate through extreme weather and food crises.

Action Alert - Stop Ford! Fill The Gallery! Wednesday Events

Dear friends,

Ford must be stopped from overturning a judge's decision on the number of wards for Toronto.  This is significant for climate action in the city - we rely on an involved city council and local councillors to promote TransformTO and good planning in our communities.  So let's join in the effort, please do one or more of the following.

WEDNESDAY 9:30 AM - QUEENS PARK bring your ID, fill the gallery
WEDNESDAY 4 PM - Rally at City Hall

Democracy Stolen? Urgent Action: CALL MPPS Now!

Dear friends of democracy and climate action,

Our court victory as of this morning is being stolen from us - unless MPPs who will have a free vote on Wednesday - refuse to follow Ford's hard line determination to thwart the judge's ruling granting us a 47 ward election on Oct 22nd. They might think twice about it if enough people point out to them:

1) the tremendous cost of continuing to focus on Toronto's election. The cost of calling back the Legislature alone runs completely contrary to reducing the cost of government.

DEMO At 361 University (Courthouse) 12 Noon Tomorrow

CLARIFICATION OF MEETING PLACE FOR DEMO, in our e-newsletter yesterday we say in one place Dundas and University, and in another Queen and University.  The demo location is in between on the east side of university beside the courthouse where there is plaza space to gather.  So that’s where to come!

Please note that towards the end of our rally another group will be gathering and we’ll just make sure that we keep groups separate as we prepare for our march.

Action Bulletin: Tomorrow – And This Wednesday Aug 22nd: Get Involved In The Municipal Election!!

BILL 5 THREATENS DEMOCRACY AT CITY HALL! Be at City Hall 9:30 am on Monday!

Doug Ford’s Conservatives passed Bill 5 to cut Toronto Council from 47 to 25 seats. This Monday (Aug. 20), Toronto Council will decide whether to take legal action to fight it. The City’s legal staff seem to have given up already! They see “no obvious path” to fighting this — but many lawyers do! One of them already has a court date on Aug. 31. This is worth fighting for!
