RISING UP FOR CLIMATE ACTION!

Wow! What an amazing turnout yesterday! Toronto stepped out – 30,000 strong! Canada turned out 800,000 strong – and the world turned out – 7 million strong – to call for urgent climate action NOW.

THIS THURSDAY OCTOBER 3RD THERE WILL BE ENVIRONMENTAL DEBATES IN MORE THAN 100 RIDINGS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. We need a HUGE turnout – to demonstrate to local politicians running for office that ENVIRONMENT is an absolutely key concern for our vote.

We need to show up, speak up, and step up for the changes needed for a regenerative future.

Will feature a climate emergency resolution up for debate. You can support the emergency declaration by sending the Mayor and your councillor this note.

October 2nd is Gandhi’s birthday – and is celebrated as the International Day of Nonviolence. A very fitting day for climate action!

TRANSFORMTO CONSULTATIONS! Oct 8, 17, 24, 30.

The City of Toronto is inviting residents to share their ideas on actions and priorities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Toronto. Input from residents will help to inform the 2021 to 2023 implementation plan for the City's TransformTO climate action strategy. The plan will be presented to Council in the spring of 2020. 

The public can also provide input by completing a survey or by hosting their own community conversation. The online survey and resources to support community-hosted conversations will be available on October 7th.

Four public meetings will take place on the following dates and locations in October:

TransformTO Survey and Community Consultation Guides - NEW DATE

Please note: The online survey and Community Conversation Guide will be available on Monday October 7th, not October 1st as previously communicated. City Council will consider declaring a climate emergency for Toronto at its October 2nd meeting and we may need to update these materials. We apologize for any inconvenience.
