This is the month to  raise our voices to councillors  about the need for  full funding of the city’s climate action plan . We need you!  Please come out to one of our advocacy training sessions  and/or write, email, or call your councillor to urge full funding of the TransformTO 2018 budget

This month we are also hosting our  last film screenings of the fall: Sea of Life . Do not miss this amazing and award winning film by Toronto film maker Julia Barnes who will be present at all the screenings.  On November 13 th  Jonathan Silver  will present on  SolarShare  and on  November 30 th  Alanna Mitchell, author of Seasick , will join us for our final screening. On  Sunday November 5 th  the  Toronto Eco-Fair takes place at Wychwood Barns , 601 Christie south of St. Clair,  11 – 4 . Lots to do!  www.ecofairtoronto.org/activities . ClimateFast and the Roots Collaborative offer  energy saving workshops at 12 noon and 1 pm as part of our Home Energy Savings Initiative (HESI).  Please join us!



NOVEMBER 8 TH  ADVOCACY TRAINING TRANSFORMTO

DOWNTOWN: 6:30 PM FRIENDS HOUSE – 60 LOWTHER AVE . (ST. GEORGE AND BLOOR)

Presenters: Dusha Sritharan, Toronto Environmental Alliance will present on TransformTO. Cheryl McNamara, Citizens Climate Lobby on letter writing, Sharon Howarth, Lyn Adamson, and Rosemary Boissonneau will present on lobbying and you will have the opportunity to work on a deputation. Lobbying will take place November – January 2018. Budget deputations will take place Jan 8, 9, and 10, 2018. Workshop is co-sponsored by Toronto Environmental Alliance, Alliance for a Just Toronto and Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL).

We are aiming for 2000 signatures on our  budget petition . If you can circulate our petition to gather more names, please email  volunteer@climatefast.ca  and we will send you the file



SUNDAY NOVEMBER 5 TH  HESI WORKSHOPS AT ECO-FAIR

Interested in Home Energy Savings?  Artscape Wychwood Barns, 601 Christie Street

FREE INFO SESSIONS at EcoFair at the Barns THIS SUNDAY!

Learn about the Home Energy Savings Initiative (HESI) and ways that you can save money on your energy bills. You will also hear about the Home Energy Loan Program offered by the City of Toronto, which provides low-interest loans for retrofit projects. Participation in HESI workshops is FREE.

HESI Session # 1: 12:00-12:30  HESI Session #2:  1:00-1:30

These info sessions will be held during  EcoFair at the Barns , which is a free, family-friendly event (11am – 4pm). While at the EcoFair enjoy eco-exhibits, eco-activities for kids and adults, electric car test drives, free bike and clothing repair, and good food! TORONTO CLIMATE FILM FESTIVAL! SEA OF LIFE!

NOVEMBER SCREENINGS – NOV 13, 16, 22, AND 30TH

Toronto Climate Film Festival is pleased to bring you Sea of Life, an award winning documentary by Director Julia Barnes. Julia Barnes will be present for all four of our film screenings.
On Nov 13th at our downtown location we will also feature a short presentation on SolarShare, as one of the solutions for climate action. On November 30th, at the North York screening, Author Alanna Mitchell will join with Julia Barnes for the Q and A.

SEA OF LIFE  - AWARD WINNING FILM BY TORONTO FILM-MAKER JULIA BARNES

Inspired by Rob Stewart’s Revolution, young filmmaker Julia Barnes embarks on an epic journey around the world to save the ecosystems we depend on for survival, as we come closer to causing a mass extinction in the oceans.

Sea of Life leads audiences through the stunning world of coral reefs into the heart of the environmental movement, meeting passionate scientists, activists and explorers who reveal an enormous opportunity to rise up and become the heroes the world needs.

The filmmaker Julia Barnes will be present for a Q & A after the film. Special guest on November 13 th : Jonathan Silver from SolarShare. On November 30 th  Alanna Mitchell, author of Seasick, will join us for our final film screening of Sea of Life.
