ACTION BULLETIN: TRANSFORMTO! Come to City Council Tuesday July 4th!
July 4th is noted as being US Independence day – but in Toronto on July 4thwe could make revolutionary change in our City! We need the Mayor and City Council to commit to the TransformTO 2050 climate action plan in its entirety!
Staff have made it clear that only by adopting – and funding – the full plan will we be able to reach our climate target: 80% of reductions in GHG emissions by 2050. The full plan. Not just the parts that don’t cost us money or that can be funded by another level of government – the full program!
HELP TO ENSURE THAT OUR CITY DOES OUR PART OF ENSURING GLOBAL TEMPERATURE RISE DOES NOT GO ABOVE 2 DEGREES CELSIUS – BE AT CITY HALL AT 9:30 AM ON TUESDAY JULY 4TH AND SHOW THE COUNCILLORS THAT YOU CARE!
ClimateFast volunteers are collecting more signatures to add to the 1400 we presented in May. We are aiming to top 2000 by adding 600 more signatures. We need to add 300 signatures this weekend. IF YOU HAVE A COUPLE OF HOURS THIS WEEKEND YOU CAN HELP! Email volunteer@climatefast.ca and say if you can come out to Scarborough Etobicoke or Humber Bay Park or Queen’s Park at 2 pm on Saturday July 1st for an hour or two of petitioning.
AND PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR COUNCILLOR AND THE MAYOR JOHN TORY GET AN EMAIL MESSAGE FROM YOU THIS WEEKEND or leave a telephone message. Let’s fill up their answering machines with calls for transformative climate action!

If Councillors see 100 concerned citizens in the chamber on Tuesday morning they will know that the citizens of Toronto care and are watching what they do. Your presence – and your advance letters and phone calls – will make the difference.
